This engine was made from tin cans and other bits I had lying arround the garage. The tools requires are a drill press tin snips and blow tourch.
The expansion chamber is made from a Minute Maid Orange Juice tin. The pull ring top leaves a nice ledge to solder the botton of another can onto to make a strong tight seal. The displacing
piston is made from a tomato puree tin and the fire box a Milo tin. The cooling ring at the top was made from a Hot Chocolate tin (Could have been a milo tin).
The power cylinder is made from a short piece of 3/4" copper tubing and the piston from prattley putty.
The lincages are 3 mm brasing rods.
The pillar is a piece of 25mm square aluminium tubing and the beam a 10 X 3mm aluminium flat bar.
The seal through the top of the expantion chamber, the beam pivot are both M6 Brass boults with a hole drilled through the centre.
The fly wheel is 12mm plywood with a 3,2mm wire rim.
The water sump is another Minute Maid tin.
The pump is made from standard 1/2" copper plumbing pieces, pratley putty, a pair of 4mm ball bearings and insulation tape.
The whole thing is powered by a candle.
